Column-Shape Vacuum Lifter
1. Jib - Crane Basics
1.1 Definition and Types
A jib - crane is an overhead lifting device, characterized by a horizontal jib arm that supports a moveable hoist or sucker lifter. It comes in three main types based on its fixing method:
- Column Type: Fixed to a floor - mounted pillar. This type is self - supporting and doesn't rely on the building structure for support, except for the connection to the ground - based column.
- Wall Type: Mounted directly onto a wall, which is a space - saving option, especially suitable for areas where floor space is limited.
- I - steel Type: Attached to an I - steel structure, providing flexibility in installation and operation in certain industrial settings.
1.2 Structure Components
- Jib Arm: The horizontal beam that extends from the support and is responsible for holding and moving the load. It can be adjusted to different heights and angles in some models, enhancing its versatility for various lifting tasks.
- Mast or Column: The vertical support structure. In column - type jib - cranes, the column is crucial for providing stability. It is often fixed to the ground or a foundation, and the jib arm rotates around it.
- Hoist: A moveable component used to lift, position, and lower the load. It can be manual, motorized, or pneumatic, depending on the crane's design and application requirements.
2. Column Cantilever Crane
2.1 Features
- Simple Structure: Comprises a column, an arm support, a swing mechanism, and a lifting mechanism. The column and arm support are separate parts, which simplifies the overall structure.
- Easy Installation: The column is set in a basic flange, which is then installed and fixed on concrete by connection bolts. No additional complex building structures are required for its installation.
- Large Working Range: The arm support can rotate 270 degrees or 360 degrees around the column, enabling it to reach a wide range of positions. This makes it suitable for use in various indoor and outdoor locations.
2.2 Components
- Column: Made of high - strength materials to ensure stability. It is firmly fixed to the ground through the basic flange and connection bolts.
- Arm Beam: Usually made of a sealed box structure for enhanced strength and durability. The hoist or sucker lifter is installed on the I - beam steel of the arm beam and can move along its longitudinal direction.
- Swing Mechanism: Located on the column, it is responsible for driving the rotation of the cantilever beam. It typically uses a gear transmission mechanism to ensure smooth and reliable rotation.
- Lifting Mechanism: This can be an electric hoist, pneumatic hoist, or other lifting devices, depending on the specific model. It is used to lift and lower the load.
3. Advantages of Cantilever Cranes
3.1 Operational Benefits
- Convenient Operation: They are easy to operate, even for workers with relatively little training. The simple structure allows for straightforward control of the hoist and the rotation of the jib arm.
- Fast and Precise Movement: Can quickly move and position loads, which is beneficial for production lines where time - efficiency is crucial. For example, in factories, they can rapidly transfer materials between different workstations.
3.2 Cost - effectiveness
- Low Manufacturing Cost: Their relatively simple design results in lower manufacturing costs compared to more complex crane types.
- Reduced Maintenance: Fewer components mean less maintenance is required. This not only saves on maintenance costs but also reduces downtime, ensuring continuous operation in production environments.
3.3 Versatility
- Suitable for Multiple Applications: Widely used in factories, mines, product lines, and assembly lines. They can handle a variety of tasks, from moving raw materials to positioning finished products.
- Flexible in Different Environments: Whether indoors or outdoors, in large open spaces or tight work areas, cantilever cranes can be effectively deployed to meet the material - handling needs.
4. Installation Considerations
4.1 Preparation
- Site Inspection: Before installation, thoroughly inspect the installation site. Ensure that the ground is flat, stable, and capable of supporting the weight of the crane and the maximum load it will carry.
- Component Check: Check all components of the crane according to the packing list. Look for any signs of damage, such as bent jib beams, corroded shafts, or missing parts during transportation.
4.2 Installation Steps
- Column Installation: Keep the column vertical to the ground. Tighten the anchor plate screws firmly. If an electric hoist is included, embed cables and grounding facilities in the foundation, with the grounding resistance not exceeding 4 ohms.
- Arm Beam Installation: Hoist the beam horizontally first. Insert the rotating shaft into the rotating drum from the upper and lower pallets. Install the reducer on the pallet and the electric hoist on the cantilever beam track. Then, connect and install all electrical components on the beam, leaving appropriate - length power cords.
4.3 Safety Precautions
- Follow Safety Regulations: Observe all national safety regulations for crane operation. Never use the crane to transport people, lift loads above personnel, or overload the crane.
- Regular Inspections: Regularly inspect the fasteners, hoist, and other components of the crane. For example, check the fasteners every 6 months to ensure they are secure and in good condition.
